Wiki Forge grows in three stages, each with more people than the last: |

Stage, Who, What happens to data |
Pre-alpha (now), The founders, Can be wiped and reloaded at any time |
Alpha, Friends and family, Can still be wiped |
Beta, Anyone who wants to try it, Kept: we migrate rather than wipe |

|
## Focus now |
|
The aim of the alpha is a handful of real wikis with real editors. That means the work right now goes into what a small crew needs to build a wiki quickly and well: |
|
- **Writing:** a fast editor with live preview, and syntax that new editors pick up without a manual. |
- **Building blocks:** Platform components, wiki-made components and Wiki Data, so a wiki can have proper infoboxes, navboxes and stat tables. |
- **Getting content in:** uploading many images at once, and later importing from other wikis. |
- **Keeping it healthy:** roles, review for new editors, rollback, blocks, and a public moderation log. See Editing and moderation. |
|
## Why this order |
|
A wiki platform lives or dies by whether communities choose to build on it. Speed, a pleasant editor and good tools for the first crew matter more early on than features for huge wikis, which come once real wikis show what they need. |
|
## Later |
|
Bigger pieces we expect to need, in rough order: importing from MediaWiki and Fandom, queries that build lists and tables from the data pages pass to components, and the steps needed to open the beta (a legal entity, a copyright process).
